Design Engineer - Ski Poles

K2 Sports is seeking a Ski Pole Design Engineer, who is passionate about developing innovative products for the winter market. The products should be high quality, good durability, marketable, capable of efficient production and cost effective. The Design Engineer works closely with the Product Director, Category Manager and Brand Director to meet market and financial needs. He/she is responsible for managing prototyping, creating CAD for new designs and clearly communicating to the R&D groups, production and suppliers.

Responsibilities:

Work with Category Manager to develop technologies and products to meet market needs and financial goals.
CAD work for new products and development. Position will have some support from outside designers and factories, but he/she will be responsible for drafting the new products.
Prioritize, manage and execute all product-related approvals. This includes managing the product testing.
Achieve product deliverables on the timeline.
Manage and communicate with outside development services, such as ID firms and factories.
Work closely with R&D group to develop durable and production capable products and technologies.
Generate and update the specification sheets defining the construction of the products.
Define factory specifications and key measures. Work with process group and factory to ensure quality and durability.
Submit engineering change notices for construction related changes at the factory.
Travel to trade shows, on-snow tests and manufacturing facilities in China. Travel to China is required 3-4 times per year.

Desired Qualifications:

BS in Engineering
Work experience in product development for 1-5 years
Adept use of CAD modeling
Must be a self-motivated
Excellent communication skills
Exceptional problem solving skills
Proficient skier and/or snowboarder
