Design Engineer


To develop products and manage engineering projects for snowshoe product lines.  This position will be responsible for project management and development activities for the Tubbs, Atlas and Powder Ridge model lines.  Projects will include design projects and manufacturing projects.  The Engineer works closely with and reports to the Snowshoe Development Director and works to meet market and corporate needs for the snowshoe model line each year.  He/she is responsible for managing snowshoe sample development, and model development, as well as implementation of manufacturing processes in the factory environment.  The engineer will interface with the sales and marketing organizations, internal support groups, parts suppliers and snowshoe suppliers.  This job has responsibilities ranging from product definition and design through production implementation.

Responsibilities:
  • Work with the Product Development Director and Product Line Manager to develop technologies, products, constructions and processes to meet market needs and financial goals.

  • Prioritize, manage and execute product-related approvals.This includes testing, drawings, bill of materials and other forms of documentation used to define the product.Manage engineering documentation using Arena product life cycle software.

  • Achieve product deliverables on required timelines.

  • Work with outside and internal services, such as the Marketing Department, ID firms, art department, external part and product suppliers etc.

  • Generate and update the specification sheets defining the construction of the products.Work with internal groups to produce drawings to define product.

  • Define factory specifications and key measures.Work with process group and factory to ensure quality and durability.

  • Develop and manage tooling schedules and development lists for communicating to R&D group and factory.


Required Qualifications:
  • BS in Engineering; Mechanical, Aeronautical, Materials Science, Civil or Manufacturing Engineering

  • Work experience in engineering/product development, or process/manufacturing engineering for 2-8 years

  • Experience with drawings, specifications and product documentation.

  • Experience with project scheduling.

  • Experience in design, materials, process and manufacturing related projects.

  • CAD modeling skills.

  • Must be willing to travel overseas (primarily Asia) 6-10 times per year and work in factory environments.

  • Must be self-motivated

  • Excellent communication skills

  • Exceptional problem solving skills

  • Participation and enjoyment of active and outdoor sports such as Snowshoeing, Hiking, Climbing, Nordic and Backcountry Skiing, Inline Skating, etc. is a benefit.  Team sports experience is also a plus.
